Mimic Social Final Report

This year we were tasked with selling bags for our company BUHI. Right away we were tasked with deciding who we would want to target. We chose day packer Tom who is 30% of the market, age 24-31, and male. Tom is looking for a multi purpose bag he can use for his next trip to hunt and camp.

While starting our rounds we start by using Facebook and Instagram in our organic social post. Our first three weeks of this were not the best. We experienced that organic post are not gaining the traction we expect, leading to low conversion rates and conversions.

Continuing throughout the weeks we begin to get into paid social post where I start to realize that Instagram is coming out to be way better then Facebook for conversions and revenue. Instagram starts to do fantastic numbers weekly and carries us through paid post.

Social media influences is where everything is going south. Our first week we did everything possible to understand how influencers would work. Through the three weeks of social media influencers I understand that this will not be out best work because our engagements, conversions, and revenue are all way down.

Using all of the social medias the last two weeks I decided to use Instagram heavily and a small amount of influencer because I saw that one of the influencers matched our target market perfectly. In our last two weeks we crush it and all metrics are back to where they should be.

I am trying to use conversions and revenue as our main KPIs because it is a great way to see how we are doing as a team here at BUHI.

What worked well?

  • Images work well
  • Well constructed captions
  • Instagram and Facebook

Conclusion

This is a very valuable experience especially because we get to learn and experiment with creating post for BUHI. It is great to get to experiment knowing that I cant ruin a business. Incorporating information I learned from weeks before allowed me to flourish in creating more revenue and conversions. My key takeaways from this simulation is to trust my work and to always be confident when I put the research in. I would say that the importance of buyer persona is tremendous. If you have no idea who you are selling to it makes it a lot harder to succeed.
